have a problem with my WinXP installation.
When I burn a CD or DVD (doesn't matter whether I use the windows included burn or Roxio) It shows as a blank CD.
When I take the disk and test it in another machine its' OK.
When I reboot the computer that couldn't read it, it can read it ok.
The type of disk seems to be irrelevant as is the burning SW

BSOD one to two times a day

Recently I've been getting a BSOD 1 to two times a day.
It doesn't seem to be associated with anything particular.
I can be playing a game or doing nothing and the computer blue screens and then reboots and runs fine until the next crash.
Every time it
reboots I get a "Windows has recovered from an unexpected crash" pop-up, but I'm not computer literate enough to know what to do with that info.
I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium.
If anyone could tell me what the info means then I would be very appreciative.

All of the attached DMP files are of the WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR (124) bugcheck.
A fatal hardware error has occurred.
This fatal error displays data from the Windows Hardware Error Architecture (WHEA).

In all of the dumps, it's a consistent DCACHEL1_DRD_ERR (always Proc 1 and Bank 0 as well).

DCACHEL1_DRD_ERR = Implies there was a Cache L1 Data Read error.

^^ Implies that this was NOT caused by any sort of software complication (drivers, etc) but hardware...
processor cache also furthers our diagnosis in the CPU itself (L1 Cache) possibly being faulty.

There is only so much you can do with a bugcheck like this until it comes down to a faulty processor that will need to be replaced.
Start from 1 and work downward:
1.
Ensure your temperatures are within standard and nothing's overheating.
You can use a program such as Speccy if you'd like to monitor temps -

Clear your CMOS (or load optimized BIOS defaults) to ensure there's no improper BIOS setting or to clear overclock settings -

Ensure your BIOS is up to date.

The only software conflict that can usually cause *124 bugchecks are OS to BIOS utilities from manufacturer's like Asus' AI Suite.
If you have something like this software-wise, remove it ASAP.

If all of the above fail, the only left to do is replace your processor as it is faulty.

If you failed to fix it, another option is to call Microsoft and walk through the process with a technician. To do this, dial "1-800-936-5700". Explain the error that you received and the steps in the update process during which it was displayed. The technician will be able to walk through the steps from getting a new product key to finishing the installation.

After upgrading to Windows 8.1, did you install all the drivers and updates successfully?

Let us follow these methods:
Method 1.
Drivers are updated occasionally.
Windows can update them automatically, or you can install the updated drivers yourself.
It's important for you to have confidence in the updated drivers you install.
Windows notifies
you if it detects a suspicious or unsafe driver you shouldn't install.

I suggest you to uninstall the display drivers and install the latest drivers from the manufacturer’s website.
Step 1: uninstall the display drivers.
a.       Press Windows + X, Click Device Manager.
b.      Expand Display Adapters.
c.       Check if the name of the graphic card is the list.
d.      Right click on the Display Adapter’s name and click uninstall.
e.       Once you uninstall the drivers it will prompt to restart the computer, if you restart the computer then generic drivers will be installed.

Step 2: Reinstall the drivers.
Please download the drivers from the computer Manufacturer’s website and reinstall the drivers.

Boot in Safe Mode:

Open Run command as previously described
Type MSConfig
Click on Boot tab
Tick Safe boot in Boot option
Select Network
Click Apply and OK
Reboot your system

Your system will boot in Safe mode with Networking. You may now try and open Windows Store and should not see any errors.

Hope someone can help ;-)
I have a Samsung NC10-14G, Windows 7 Ultimate, 2GB Ram.
It has been running find since June 2009 until about a week ago when I started getting the Blue Screen.

Hardware Malfunction.
NMI: Parity check/memory parity error"

I ran the
Windows memory diagnostics tool and no problems with the RAM.

I've taken the Ram out and put it back - no effect.

I'm wondering if it could be due to having updated
my Intel Win7 Graphics Driver a couple of days before the BSOD.

So now I'm trying to roll back the Graphics Driver to the previous version or uninstall and then reinstall a previous version of the driver...
and this is where I'm stuck...
I can't find the driver in Device Manager to roll it back or uninstall it.
I've
tried googling on how to do this but can't find any info.
Also, is it best to roll back the driver or to uninstall it and reinstall the new driver?
I've downloaded a previous version of the Graphics Driver from the Samsung website Ver 8.14.10.2108, so I'm ready to go....
just need some advice on how to best go about this....
