Burnt CD/DVD not recognised until after reboot

have a problem with my WinXP installation.
When I burn a CD or DVD (doesn't matter whether I use the windows included burn or Roxio) It shows as a blank CD.
When I take the disk and test it in another machine its' OK.
When I reboot the computer that couldn't read it, it can read it ok.
The type of disk seems to be irrelevant as is the burning SW
