Asus Tranformer Book T100 Windows 8.1 standby (sleep) now down to 8 hours from 7 days?
Have seen several threads regarding a microsoft automatic update around 10th or 18th december 2013 which has had undesired results on the microsoft surface 2 tablets.
I have the Asus Transformer Book T100 (intel / Windows 8.1 i.e.
not the RT windows) and
all of a sudden it no longer holds any charge overnight.
Charge the tablet fully, press power button to turn off.
Screen goes off.
Leave power cable out.
Come back next morning, battery totally drained.
Happened for many nights now, possibly since around the 10th or 18th, can't be sure (doesnt get used every day).
I've checked event viewer and it confirms sleep mode when I press the power button, but then, around 10-15 minutes later it wakes up fully saying reason: power button pressed.
No I didnt! Theres a few more entries, but essentially it stays fully awake until
the battery finally totally drains.
Last night I charged it to 50% then did all outstanding updates (Microsoft and Asus), rebooted it, checked ok, put it to sleep via the button, all looks ok.
Left it completely alone for 15 minutes, looked at it to see the screen back on fully, and when I
checked the event logs, same sequence of power messages (sleep / wakeup:power button).
I've tested the lablets power button, its not loose, nor iffy, and feels absolutely fine, and each press I make it does what I'm expecting, whether its a short press or a long press.
Is this the borked power update Microsoft has automatically installed to my computer? Is there any way of me un-installing what's been done (which KB has done this change), and if not, when are Microsoft going to fix it? I've now set automatic updates to
"off" as I can no longer trust Microsoft to properly QA/QC updates before unleashing them to the public!
Anyone with any good ideas (to fix this fault)?! Thanks!
