Cannot access some XP computers on the home network from a Windows 8.1 computer

I have four computers on the home network. 
3 running XP sp3
1 new running Win 8.1

Marc is a common user name, Marc as an admin) on all machines.

On each of the XP machines the permissions  and sharing are set up identically

For two of the XP computers the WIN 8.1 has full access (under Marc)

On the third I can see the shared folders from the Win 8.1 machine but cannot access any sub folders or files (unless Everyone is given full access).
Get "You don't have permission to access ....."

All three XP machines have full access under Marc to the Win 8.1 machine.

I have used windows credentials to put in the proper server names, username (Marc) and password (all computer have the same)

The win 8.1 machine uses an online sign on.

Any ideas?
